Preventative Care
Preventive oral health care is what you and your dentist practice together in order to keep your teeth and gums free from disease. Dental disease is almost entirely preventable if you visit your dentist regularly and practice good oral health.
- Brush your teeth twice a day, floss once a day, eat a balanced diet, and limit sugary snacks.
- See your dentist at least twice a year. Schedule regular professional cleanings and follow your dentist’s advice on maintaining your oral health.
- Initial dental appointments will generally include a comprehensive exam with x-rays, which will enable your dentist to determine any treatment you may need.
Untreated dental disease can lead to serious health problems such as infection, damage to bone or nerve, as well as tooth loss. Infection from tooth disease can even spread to other parts of your body.
